How to make an Instagram story video from a Figma frame

Design the story as a 1080 × 1920 frame in Figma, with a layer for the footage and your type and logo on top. Run Video Exportify, attach the clip, set the length and export. The MP4 comes back at 1080 × 1920, ready to post. If you have ten versions of the story, select all ten frames and each becomes its own video.

  1. 01

    Design the story

A 1080 × 1920 frame, a layer for the footage (a video fill, or a shape named “video”), and everything else on top of it.

  2. 02

Attach a clip to each video layer

Every layer with a video fill, or with “video” or “clip” in its name, is listed as a slot. Upload a clip, drop a file on the slot, or reuse one you already uploaded.

  3. 03

    Set the length and export

Up to 5 seconds on the free plan, up to 60 on Pro. A fifteen-second story is done before you have switched tabs.

Posts, reels and other sizes

The export has the size of the frame, so the same works for a 1080 × 1350 post, a 1080 × 1080 square or a 1920 × 1080 slide. On Pro you can export at twice the frame’s size and at 60 fps.

What it costs

Free: 3 exports a month (5 with a confirmed email address), up to 5 seconds each, watermarked.

Pro: €19 a month for 5,000 render seconds, up to 60 seconds per export, 2× resolution, 60 fps, no watermark.

Questions

Is there a watermark?

On the free plan, a small one in the corner. Pro exports have none.

Can I make the same story for several clients at once?

Yes. Select all the frames together; each is exported as its own video with the same settings, and each file is named after its frame.
